History class

We are studying U.S. Presidential History in social studies today. Here's my rough draft....

George Bush and others

Chosen to be president by judges on the Supreme Court, not the American people

One of the judges is the most disgraceful person ever to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas

Was warned by the Clinton administration about Osama Bin-Laden, failed to listen

Bush appointed the least qualified NSA and Secretary of State in the history of our nation-Condesleaza

Yes, she’s brillaint, but was a Cold War Warrior under Reagan. Now that we are in a borderless world, she’s completely out of her league

Ariel Sharon’s (if only he was well) statement about her is she has nice legs. Meaning there’s nothing else to say

Bush failed to take diplomatic actions against Iraq, which was what the vote asked for, prior to the poorly planned war

Bush failed to help New Orleans during Katrina

Bush was the only living president to fail to attend Pres. Ford’s funeral. Ford was a Republican

Yes, Clinton’s term ended with an economic slowdown, Bush failed to do anything to address the economy

He started his presidency in a recession and will end it in leaving us in a worse economic state

A space shuttle exploded during his presidency, no it wasn’t his fault, but it was just bad for the U.S.

The U.S. is # 11 in broadband penetration worldwide. Bush has done nothing to advance the tech centers in the U.S.

The U.S. has spent too much time rebuilding failed nations or nations we defeated, but let our own research and education systems fail. This is why Japan, India, China, Brazil are all doing well. This is something all post WW II presidents failed at

Daddy George did a poor job poorly handled the decline of commuism

Clinton did a poorer job

But no one has done a poorer job than W. This data was published in the NY Times and yes for the right wingers who hate the Times, they bashed Clinton big time on this

McCain looks like a character from a grade B-horror movie, some of them had the head monster dressed up in a suit, but he looked like dead person

Obama has never introduced a piece of legisation in his life

Obama has never given a policy or legislative speech in his life

Obama has one of the worst attendace records for the short time he spent in the U.S. Senate. He’s missed most votes. Did the same in the Ill. State House

Obama is so arrongant and condeseceing when he speaks. He really seems to think the world should bow down to him

Palin is a nut. She has no business being on the McCain’s ticket

Both candidtes for president are weak. Unfortunately, intelligent people are are no longer interested in running. Maybe that's why they are intellingent

Hillary Clinton felt the world owed her the presidency

The GOP was never about the Christian right. Jefferson and Lincoln had other ideals when they founded the party

Our founding fathers were not religious. Yes, they attended church cause it was the thing to do. But their beliefs and work concetrated on science, law and writing

We went to war with Iraq because Bush failed to destory the Taliban and/or catch Bin Laden. Yes, the Taliban is back. But hey, we funded them during the Soviet invastion of Afghanistan

The Steinbrenners let Clueless Joe Giradi finish the season. Do you think they would admit that they messed up, by not bringing Joe Torre back?

Torre’s going to playoffs, Giradi’s going home

If George Steinbrenner was well and running the team, Giradi would have been balled out

For some reason the press gave the former catcher a break too. Giradi did not know how to call game as manager, wasn’t that his job as a catcher?

Sadly, Rent closed after 12 years, a show about life and much more

The holiest place on the planet is going to come down-Yankee Stadium, need I say more?

School

By now it is really in session and we are studying hard.  I guess we are living for the weekend.  I can't wait to go to Yankee Stadium on Sat.

Of course while in school, I hang out with kids that all went to camp.  Mine or others.  We talk all about the craziness and are waiting for next summer.

Staff

Hey, campers,

Yeah, I was a counselor.  I went to Chappegat as a camper and moved up the hill to becoming a staffer.  Those were the days. As you can tell, I miss them dearly.

I think everyone should spend their summers in camp.  It is an amazing experience.

Leanto

A leanto is where we slept in camp.  It is a 3-walled wooden structure.  The front is open. some have decks and screens to keep out the bugs.  I had screening.  Your mattresses are on the left and right side of the leanto. Some people do bunk beds or put someone in the middle.

During my last year of camp, I had a small fridge stocked with Genny Cream Ale in my leanto and Bertha Dore's boombox.  You only got electricity in your leanto if you were on staff. Campers got power during superweek.

Time for more school

Well, the weekend is over. I guess it is time for another week of school.

Of course, in real life, I go to work. But hey, camp just ended and school is in session.  So we need to learn.

I wonder how I will do in math this time around, Earth Science too. I know, I will rock Social Studies.

I wish I wish sitting in my leanto listening to Depeche Mode, U2 and Erasure.  Oh well, next summer will be here soon enough...

School's in session

So when I was in school, I played volleyball, floor hockey, softball and ran around the 'ole track.

Volleyball was the best, we turned it into  dodgeball game. We beat the hell out of the ball and each other.  We aimed for the opposing team as we volleyed the ball over the net.

Sometimes the gym teachers yelled, but most of the time they were out to lunch so we just volleyed along.  I wish we had the girls on the team that were in the beach volleyball games during the Olympics. Oh well.

Time for Chemistry. We used to make fires in the lab...

School

Well my friends, camp has come to its sweet end. Next summer will bring more Genny Cream Ale, canoe trips, softball, ultimate frisbee and crazy campfires.

But now, it is time to go to school.  Yuck!  But I guess you gotta board that dreaded S56 bus that runs the Annadale loop to Tottenville High School.  I wonder what crazy math teacher I will get.  Of course, I've been out of the that dump for 20 years, but hey memories are fun. Not that I have many of THS.  If you want to talk I.S. 34 JHS, I can go on for days. So why not, that place rocked.
